Understanding and Function Groynes For the Beach
Understanding and Function Groins For the Beach
Understanding and Function Groynes - Groynes is a coastal protective structure functioning to withstand sediment transport along the coast. One of the most important functions of groynes is to reduce or stop erosion.
Groynes beach protective buildings are usually made perpendicular to the shoreline. The basic materials of the groynes construction are generally Wood, Steel, Concrete and Stone.
For the effective use of groynes, it should be made with a series of buildings consisting of several groynes with a predetermined distance for the shoreline to be seen to be of significant shape. Because if there is only one groyne use then the groyne is not effective.
Groynes Types
There are 3 types of groynes in general, including:
- The groyne type is L-shaped
- Type groynes shaped letter I
- Type groyne shaped T
This type of groyne is built in accordance with the needs of the beach to be paired with groynes.
